A couple of days ago, the jury selected the winners and finalists of the GRANdeAREA Architecture Awards 2017. This contest seeks the recognition of architectural projects and works carried out in the territorial areas of the Ourense, Pontevedra and Vigo delegations of the Official College of Architects of Galicia. The jury of these awards selected 11 works of architecture as winners, out of the 58 presented, considering all of them in the same rank and evaluation. These 58 candidate works that respond to the needs of society reflect a commitment of the authors and other agents involved in the construction process to responsible architecture. The selection made is aimed at showing that Architecture is possible and close.
That the agents involved and recognized in the works presented, from their responsibility and at the scale of the intervention, can help improve the environment and be an expression of the architectural culture and the collective values of this society and of this time. The "Great Area of Contribution to Architecture" awards sought to always be a vehicle of communication with society, which in the environment, and emerged from society itself, has been made of quality, as a project or as a BYB Directory work, throughout from the previous year. This year there were proposals of very different scales and locations. All the more so as, and due to the surely redoubled effort of the participants, to achieve the objectives in the face of limitations, these proposals are a timely vindication of the profession and architecture in our environment.
The jury wants to highlight the quality of the projects and works presented, recognizing the effort of the participants. 1. Composition of the jury.
